Education & Training

Angie Baker is a real estate trainer based out of Charleston, West Virginia. She entered into the real estate industry in a different way than most- as staff at the local REALTOR(R) Association. She was tapped for her technology expertise but soon recognized her love of sharing that expertise with agents in a classroom setting. Members of the Multiple Listing Service quickly found Angie to be their resource for many applications involving not only technology, but other topics relating to real estate as well.

Angie moved on to the region's largest independent real estate company where she acted as the Director of Education and Training, finding out the needs of agents across the state of West Virginia and implementing training that would fill those gaps and enhance market expertise.

Having worked with agents of all skill levels and seeing their struggles to keep up with ever-emerging technology in their business, she developed her own company to meet those demands. She now provides agents whose expertise is in client relations a way to keep up with client expectations without having to become a computer guru. She also provides customized training programs to meet the needs of brokerages that don't have the size or resources to justify a full-time education provider.

As a REBAC instructor, Angie is certified to teach many of the designation programs desired by agents to help build industry expertise in a way that is marketable to clients.

NAR's GREEN Designation

This two-day course gives students a broad understanding of green real estate principles--from the concepts of sustainability, New Urbanism, and smart growth to the application of industry ratings and evaluation standards in real estate. As a practical resource, this course shows real estate professionals how to explain to consumers what makes a home, building, or property green, how to list and market green properties while fulfilling ones legal and professional obligations, and how to implement green practices on the road and in the office. In addition, this course discusses how real estate consumers can determine the energy efficiency of their properties, take advantage of green grants and initiatives, and reduce everyday toxins in the home and workplace. NAR's Green Designation Core Course counts as credit toward earning the NAR's Green Designation, awarded by the Green REsource Council. This course also meets the elective course requirement for the ABR® Designation awarded by the Real Estate Buyers Agent Council (REBAC).

GREEN Residential Elective

This one-day course builds upon the green concepts and principles of the core course while taking a more advanced look at what green strategies, practices, and considerations occur in residential real estate. Completing this elective after the core course will qualify a student to apply for the GREEN Designation. This can also be a stand-alone course for anyone interested in learning more about the green lifestyle.

Green Commercial Elective

NAR's Green Designation Commercial Elective Course will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of commercial green building principles, products and practices. Coming in the summer of 2009, this one-day, six-hour course will be available both online and in a classroom setting, and count toward earning NAR's Green Designation.

Students of the Short Sales and Foreclosure course will not only learn how to spot opportunities for buyer-clients in this unique market segment, but will be able to council homebuying clients on the perils of risky finance programs. The Short Sales and Foreclosure course counts as one REBAC elective course to be applied towards the ABR® designation. Can be completed in a classroom.
